&
BRITISH CITIZENSHIP
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is a form of permanent residence in the United Kingdom. It allows a person to live and work in the UK without any time restrictions and provides a pathway to British citizenship. ILR may be granted after a qualifying period of lawful residence under specific visa categories, subject to meeting eligibility requirements
Students who have been living in the UK for 10 continuous years may be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR), also known as settlement, under the 10-year long residence route. This status allows individuals to stay in the UK without any restrictions.
EU Settlement Scheme is a UK immigration status granted to EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens and their family members who were living in the UK by 31 December 2020. It allows individuals to continue residing, working, and studying in the UK after Brexit. Successful applicants are granted either settled status (permanent residence) or pre-settled status (limited leave to remain).
British Citizenship by Naturalisation is the legal process through which a non-British national may apply to become a British citizen. Applicants must usually have held Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Settled Status for at least 12 months, demonstrate good character, meet residence requirements, and pass the Life in the UK test, along with proving English language proficiency.
British Citizenship by Registration is the process by which a child under the age of 18 may acquire British citizenship if they meet specific eligibility criteria. This may include being born in the UK to non-British parents who later acquire settled status or citizenship, or having lived in the UK for a certain period. Registration is at the discretion of the Home Secretary and is the most common route for children to become British citizens.
British Passport Application is the process by which a British citizen applies for an official travel document issued by His Majesty’s Passport Office. Applicants must provide proof of British citizenship, identity, and relevant supporting documents. First-time applications, renewals, and applications for children follow specific procedures and processing times.
